Mmm…Superhero Smoothies!

During this term at Bright Stars, we have been using Superheroes/Princesses as a topic of discussion, play and learning. Many of the children have been very excited about discussing their favourite characters and we have been using this to plan some activities for them.

One of the activities we did was to make Ninja Turtle/Princess Fiona smoothies. It is an easy and fun activity to do together and has the added bonus of providing them with some of their ‘five a day’. The ingredients can be changed and adapted to suit any dietary requirements your child may have and also to what you have handy around the house.

If you would like to make your own superhero smoothie here is the recipe,


  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 150g (5oz) green grapes
  • 1 (200g) tub vanilla yoghurt
  • 1/2 apple, cored and chopped
  • 50g (2oz) fresh spinach leaves


Place the banana, grapes, yoghurt, apple and spinach into a blender or food processor. Cover, and blend until smooth, stopping frequently to push down anything stuck to the sides. Pour into glasses and serve.
