PGL Winmarleigh Hall

During Year 4 we extend the residential experiences to PGL Winmarleigh Hall. The site is up near Garstang, Lancashire and is a step further for our children in Y4. The aim of this residential is to support teamwork, develop resilience and challenge our children to set targets for themselves. Our initial meeting was on 19th September and we understand that not all parents can make these meetings. To help, please find the delivered PowerPoint below, along with a kit list. Furthermore, please follow this link to find out more about the PGL site we will be visiting.

We hope to take as many children as possible. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to group leader Mr Carney and we will do all we can to ease these concerns. This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to try something new as well as enjoying a brilliant few days away with their peers.

Reply slips and initial deposits should be returned to school by Friday 29th September and payments are to be made via ParentPay.

Thank you for your continued support.

Learning Challenges Term 2

During this term, we have asked the questions; “Were the Romans Really Rotten?” and “What Would Life Be Like In A Silent Movie?”

We have been on a trip to Chester and found out that although the Romans did some pretty gruesome things (especially the Gladiators!), they also did some pretty amazing things that we still use today, such as the Roads.

During our second learning challenge, we have been learning about the ear and how we hear different sounds and how we can change sounds to get different tones and effects. We combined this with our English learning and looked at Silent movies with Laurel and Hardy to make our own silent movies and then turned them into play scripts.

There was a strange occurrence in Rudston this half term. A strange nest appeared and throughout the week we used our science skills to investigate what might have made the nest and then where the eggs might have come from and how we could incubate them.

During this week, we did a class blog which you can check out here:
