Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG)

At Rudston Primary School we feel it important to develop a good understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) in order to strengthen children’s writing and reading throughout their time at school.  In order to enhance children’s spelling, punctuation and grammar children partake in learning activities which are taught directly in SPaG sessions and also discreetly throughout English. Every classroom (year 1-year 6) contains a spelling stop or SPaG station which includes a help desk and learning wall to support children’s independent learning. Children are  tested on both their spelling and their punctuation and grammar as part of their SATs at the end of key stage 1 and key stage 2 (year 2 and 6).
